Call for CBI Investigation into Missing Couple in Meghalaya

Request for CBI Inquiry
Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has formally approached Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the disappearance of a couple from Indore in Meghalaya. The case gained national attention following the discovery of Raja Raghuwanshi's body and the ongoing search for his wife, Sonam Raghuwanshi. In a post on social media, Yadav mentioned that he has personally discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He assured that senior officials from Madhya Pradesh are in constant coordination with their counterparts in Meghalaya to closely monitor the developments.
Family Demands CBI Investigation
The family of 25-year-old Sonam Raghuwanshi, who went missing during her honeymoon in Meghalaya, has previously requested the central government to assign the case to the CBI. This appeal comes amid growing frustration over the perceived negligence and ineffective investigation by the Meghalaya police. Sonam and her husband, 29-year-old Raja Raghuwanshi, disappeared shortly after checking out from a homestay in Nongriat village on May 23. Raja's body was later found on June 2, approximately 20 kilometers from the homestay, near a waterfall in the Sohra area. Although the Meghalaya police have registered a murder case, there have been no leads regarding Sonam's whereabouts.
