Bhubaneswar: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati held a comprehensive review of development efforts in Khurda district on Thursday at the zilla parishad conference hall. The meeting concentrated on the execution of various Central and state welfare initiatives, alongside development projects in crucial areas such as health, agriculture, tourism, water resources, and rural infrastructure. The Governor evaluated several Central schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, PM Gram Sadak Yojana, and the Jal Jeevan Mission.

While he expressed contentment with the overall advancements, Kambhampati stressed the urgency for quicker implementation, especially in achieving complete tap water access under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Presently, approximately 70% of households in the district benefit from piped water supply. He also pointed out delays in certain large-scale projects and urged local authorities to resolve these issues to ensure timely project completion. Recognizing Khurda’s significance as the Capital district, he highlighted its potential to set a developmental standard for the state.

In terms of industrial development, the Governor mentioned that 21 industrial estates are currently being developed in the district, encouraging the youth to utilize the available infrastructure and support for MSMEs. He also commended the promotion of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana and urged citizens to take advantage of rooftop solar subsidies for long-term financial benefits.
