Major Development Initiatives During PM Modi's Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to announce significant development projects valued at crores during his two-day visit to Gujarat, commencing on May 26. The city of Ahmedabad is preparing for a grand road show in honor of the Prime Minister's arrival, scheduled to start at 6:30 PM tomorrow, stretching from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Indira Bridge.


Inauguration of Projects Worth ₹5,536 Crore


During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate over 22,000 housing units constructed at a cost of ₹1,006 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Additionally, he will unveil the Biodiversity Park in Surat, which has been developed by repurposing unused land along the Kankra-Khadi riverbank, with an investment of ₹145 crore.


In total, urban development initiatives worth ₹1,447 crore will be inaugurated, covering essential projects in cities like Jamnagar, Surat, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Junagadh. The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for urban projects totaling ₹1,347 crore, which includes the Phase-3 development of the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, estimated at ₹1,000 crore. At the event held at Mahatma Mandir, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth ₹170 crore under the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department.


Furthermore, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for Water Resources Department projects exceeding ₹1,860 crore, which includes the Tharad-Dhanera pipeline in Banaskantha at a cost of ₹888 crore and the Deodar Lakhani pipeline at ₹678 crore. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Gandhinagar, built at a cost of ₹84 crore. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for a new Inpatient Department (IPD) block with Outpatient Department (OPD) services in Ahmedabad, featuring 1,800 beds, including a dedicated 500-bed facility for infectious diseases, at a cost of ₹588 crore. He will also distribute cheques totaling ₹2,731 crore to 17 Municipal Corporations and ₹569 crore to 149 Municipalities under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
