Introducing SwaRail: The New Super App for Indian Railways

Overview of Indian Railways' New App

Indian Railways boasts the fourth largest railway network globally, reaching even the most isolated regions of the country. The organization is committed to enhancing its infrastructure daily, providing a variety of services to its passengers. To streamline ticket booking, travelers can now utilize the IRCTC online platform or app.

For those looking to purchase unreserved tickets or check train statuses, separate applications were previously required. However, Indian Railways has addressed these challenges with the launch of a new super app, consolidating all necessary services into one convenient platform.

Features of the SwaRail App

The newly introduced SwaRail app is currently available exclusively for Android users. This app allows passengers to access a multitude of services seamlessly, including ticket purchases, train status checks, train tracking, and meal ordering. Users can also easily file complaints through the app, as reported by a media source.

In addition to ticketing and food services, the app facilitates shipment bookings, effectively combining various railway functionalities into a single application. It has been developed by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).

Continuity of the IRCTC App

There is a common misconception that the launch of the SwaRail app will lead to the discontinuation of the IRCTC app. This is not the case; the IRCTC app will remain operational, primarily for train ticket bookings. The SwaRail app, however, will introduce additional services that are not currently offered by the IRCTC app. At this time, only the beta version of the SwaRail app is available for Android users.
