Import Restrictions on Jute Products
New Delhi: On Friday, the Indian government announced a ban on the importation of specific jute products and woven fabrics from Bangladesh via land routes.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) clarified that these imports are permitted only through the Nhava Sheva seaport.
This decision follows earlier restrictions imposed on May 17, which limited the import of various goods, including ready-made garments and processed food items from Bangladesh.
The items affected by these new restrictions encompass jute products, Songkran flax yarn, single jute yarn, multiple folded woven fabrics, and unbleached woven jute fabrics.
