Launch of Quantum Technology Research Center

The Quantum Technology Research Center (QRTC) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has officially opened its doors at Metcalfe House in New Delhi, as confirmed by officials.


The inauguration took place on Tuesday, led by Samir V. Kamat, the Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of DRDO. The center aims to enhance indigenous quantum capabilities for strategic and defense applications.


According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, the QRTC is equipped with state-of-the-art experimental facilities designed to promote research and development in critical quantum domains.


The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Suma Varughese, Director General of Microelectronics, Computational Systems, and Cyber Systems, whose vision and leadership were pivotal in conceptualizing this advanced establishment. Other notable attendees included Manu Korulla, Director General of Resources and Management, along with directors from SSP and SAG, senior scientists, and other dignitaries.
