Incident Overview

On Sunday evening, two students from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Madhya Pradesh went missing after entering the water near a waterfall in Sehore district, according to police reports.


Deepak Shukla, the Superintendent of Police for Sehore, informed reporters that the incident occurred around 5 PM near the Bherukho waterfall, located in the forest area close to Daulatpur village, which falls under the Ichhawar police station jurisdiction.


He further explained that five students from VIT, situated in the Kothari area, had gone for a picnic at the Kheoni Sanctuary. Among them, 20-year-old Hemant Rao from Hyderabad was swept away by the current flowing from the Sinmuk waterfall.


Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene; however, they faced challenges in commencing the rescue operation due to darkness. The official stated that the search efforts would resume on Monday morning.
