Dramatic Draw: India and England's Fourth Test Ends in Tension

On July 27, Team India displayed exceptional determination to secure a draw in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. The match concluded with India at 425/4, leading to a handshake that marked the end of the game.

After England amassed 669 runs in response to India's first innings total of 358, India found themselves in a precarious position. The situation worsened when they lost two wickets in the opening over of their second innings. However, captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul managed to stabilize the innings, batting for over 60 overs without further losses on the fourth day.

On the final day, India faced another challenge as both set batsmen were dismissed early in the first session. Ben Stokes provided England with a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Rahul for 90, followed by Jofra Archer sending Gill back for 103.

Nevertheless, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar both scored centuries, forming an unbroken partnership of 203 runs, ensuring the match did not tilt in England's favor. Jadeja finished with an unbeaten 107, while Sundar remained not out at 101.

Tensions Rise as Jadeja Refuses Handshake

The conclusion of the fourth Test was marked by a tense moment when India declined England's offer to conclude the match early. With a draw seeming inevitable, England's captain Ben Stokes approached Ravindra Jadeja, extending his hand to signify the draw.

However, Jadeja swiftly rejected the handshake, leaving Stokes and several other England players visibly frustrated. Both Jadeja and Sundar were nearing their centuries and opted to continue batting, which did not sit well with the England team, leading to an animated exchange.

Here is the full conversation between the England players and Ravindra Jadeja:

Ben Stokes: “You want to get a Test hundred against Harry Brook? If you wanted to score a century, you should have batted like you wanted to get it.”

Ravindra Jadeja: “What do you want me to do? Just walk off?”

Zak Crawley: “Jaddu just shake your hands.”

Ravindra Jadeja: “I can’t do anything.”

Crawley: “You can. You shake your hands.”

Ben Duckett: “How long do you need, an hour?”
