IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Multiple States

IMD Weather LIVE Updates: Several areas are anticipated to experience ongoing rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the likelihood of extremely heavy showers in the coming days. Regions such as Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala are expected to face intense rainfall. Additionally, conditions are becoming favorable for the onset of the Monsoon in Kerala within the next two days.
In a recent press release, the IMD stated, “A Well-Marked Low-Pressure area is situated over the Eastcentral Arabian Sea near the south Konkan coast as of 0830 hrs IST today, May 23, 2025. It is expected to move northward and strengthen into a depression within the next 24 hours.” Furthermore, conditions are likely to support the advancement of the southwest Monsoon over additional regions, including parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, the South, North & Central Bay of Bengal, and the Northeastern states.
Pre-monsoon showers continue to affect various cities, causing disruptions in traffic and daily activities. Notably, additional rainfall is predicted for West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Bihar from May 24-26; Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the same period; Madhya Maharashtra on May 25; and Uttarakhand on May 24, 25, 28, and 29.
