Suruchi Inder Singh Dominates in 10m Air Pistol Event

Teen shooter Suruchi Inder Singh delivered an outstanding performance in the 10m air pistol event, earning her second consecutive gold medal at the ISSF World Cup. Manu Bhaker, a medallist from the Paris Olympics, secured the silver, reinforcing India's strong presence in the competition.

The 18-year-old from Jhajjar, who previously clinched her first World Cup gold in the season's opening event, scored 243.6 in the final round of 24 shots, finishing 1.3 points ahead of Manu.

China's Yao Qianxun took home the bronze medal.

With Suruchi and Manu's impressive finishes, India achieved a medal of every color on this day, as Saurabh Chaudhary also contributed with a bronze in the men's 10m air pistol.

India's remarkable performance in the women's 10m air pistol event in Peru has positioned the country at the top of the medal standings, with three medals, while China follows closely after winning the men's air pistol gold.

During the qualification round, it was evident that the Indian pair would advance to the finals from a competitive field of 28. Suruchi secured the second position with a score of 582, while Manu placed fourth with 578.

Sainyam, the third Indian competitor, finished 11th with a score of 571.

In the final, Suruchi showcased her exceptional form, quickly moving to second place after the first five-shot series.

Yao initially led the competition, with Manu in fourth alongside Uruguay's Julieta Jimenez, who was performing well.

After the second five-shot series, Yao maintained her lead, but Suruchi and Manu were close behind, with Suruchi momentarily dropping to third.

As the competition progressed, Suruchi found her rhythm, while Meng Yufei from China struggled, allowing the Indian duo to take the top two spots.

Manu's performance dipped slightly with a couple of lower scores, which likely cost her the gold medal, as Suruchi proved to be the more consistent shooter throughout the event.

Yao managed to reclaim the bronze from Julieta, but with only two shots remaining, Suruchi led Manu by 0.7 points.

In the final moments, Suruchi outperformed Manu, solidifying her remarkable streak that began with the national championships last December.

Additionally, Suruchi had previously won a mixed team bronze in the 10m air pistol alongside Saurabh in Buenos Aires.
