Aamir Khan Discusses Age Gap in 'Sitaare Zameen Par' with Genelia D’Souza

Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza Unite for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'
Bollywood star Aamir Khan is set to share the screen with Genelia D’Souza in the highly anticipated emotional drama 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. This pairing has surprised many fans and reignited discussions about age differences in the film industry. In a recent interview, the 59-year-old actor emphasized that age should not be a hindrance in modern cinema.
Aamir highlighted the advancements in filmmaking, noting that contemporary directors can easily bridge age gaps through innovative technology and casting choices. He remarked, “With the help of VFX, we can portray various ages on screen seamlessly. In the past, I would have to use prosthetics to play a younger character, but now, visual effects allow actors to appear as any age effortlessly.”
Addressing the age difference between himself and Genelia, Aamir recalled their first collaboration in the 2008 romantic comedy 'Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na', where he starred alongside his nephew Imran Khan. He humorously acknowledged the age factor, saying, “I thought about it, but that was a long time ago, and Imran is now closer to my age.”
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is the Hindi remake of the acclaimed Spanish film 'Champions' (2018). Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the movie follows a sports team coached by individuals with intellectual disabilities, emphasizing themes of inclusion and mentorship. The film also features a cameo by Darsheel Safary, linking it to Aamir's earlier classic 'Taare Zameen Par' (2007).
Filming concluded in mid-2024, with a release date set for June 20, 2025. Although this marks Aamir's third film since 'Salaam Venky' and 'Laal Singh Chaddha', he believes the story's depth and the opportunity for artistic expression drew him back to the project.
