Sai Sudharsan Sets New T20 Record in IPL 2025

Sai Sudharsan Achieves Milestone in IPL 2025
Continuing his impressive performance, Sai Sudharsan showcased his batting prowess in the IPL 2025 match held in Ahmedabad. During the game between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, he made significant contributions to the scoreboard, marking a remarkable achievement as he became the fastest Indian to accumulate 2000 T20 runs, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. His stellar performance also allowed him to reclaim the Orange Cap from Suryakumar Yadav.
Only Shaun Marsh has reached the 2000 T20 runs milestone quicker than Sudharsan. The Gujarat Titans player has now set the record as the fastest Indian to achieve this landmark. Tendulkar had reached this milestone in 59 innings back in 2011, while Sudharsan accomplished his last 1000 runs in just 22 innings, highlighting his exceptional scoring ability. Last season, he was the third-fastest Indian to reach 1000 runs, but this year he has outpaced everyone to reach 2000.
On a typically batting-friendly pitch in Ahmedabad, Sudharsan aggressively targeted a struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He hit Mohammed Shami for five boundaries in a single over and quickly amassed 45 runs during the powerplay. Acting primarily as an anchor, he turned the game around to secure the Orange Cap once more. At just 23 years old, he is also the first player to surpass 500 runs in this season.

Although Sudharsan narrowly missed out on a fifty in the GT vs SRH match, he can take pride in yet another record-breaking performance. Throughout the season, the Tamil Nadu cricketer has been crucial in establishing strong foundations for his team. In the ten IPL matches played so far, he has scored over thirty runs in all but one match, demonstrating remarkable consistency.
Since joining the Gujarat Titans, Sudharsan has been shattering records at an impressive pace. He has now become the fastest Indian to reach 1500 IPL runs, a record that was previously held by Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, both of whom took 44 innings to achieve this milestone, while Sudharsan accomplished it in just 35 innings.
