Arrest of Kamlesh Rai in Extortion Case

On Friday, Kamlesh Rai, a former councillor of Shiv Sena, was apprehended in Andheri, Western Mumbai, on charges of extorting five lakh rupees from a builder. This information was confirmed by a police official.


The official revealed that Rai allegedly demanded a total of fifty lakh rupees related to a construction project in the MIDC area of Andheri. Following this, the builder filed a complaint of extortion at the MIDC police station.


According to the officer, after negotiations, the amount was settled at thirty-five lakh rupees, with the former councillor initially receiving eight lakh rupees. Rai was caught while attempting to collect an additional installment of five lakh rupees from the builder. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
