RCB's Unique Language Learning Initiative

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], April 10: In an exciting initiative, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has introduced a groundbreaking campaign designed to assist non-native speakers in learning Kannada in a fun and engaging manner.

As per a statement from RCB, this campaign seeks to unite the franchise's diverse fan base by intertwining the love for cricket, language, and sweets, thereby enhancing the bond between the team and its home city.

Traditionally, South Indian languages have been viewed as challenging to master. RCB aims to change this perception by using Jilebi as a symbol of pride and celebration, turning cultural biases into a sweet opportunity for inclusion.

The campaign encourages fans to "taste the language" with specially crafted, edible jilebis shaped like Kannada words. This initiative not only honors the Kannada language but also serves as a cultural strategy to connect native and non-native fans, fostering a sense of belonging within the city's spirit.

These exclusive Kannada jilebis will be available at the RCB Bar & Cafe in Bengaluru from April 8 to 11. Fans can scan the Jilebi packaging to access a series of beginner-friendly Kannada lessons on RCB's YouTube channel, featuring popular players like Virat Kohli, Tim David, and Yash Dayal, making it the sweetest language class around. Additionally, RCB is sponsoring free Kannada lessons for 1,000 fans, which they can either take themselves or gift to their non-native friends in Bengaluru.

To participate, fans simply need to email "Jilebi Kodi" to jilebikodi@gmail.com to win sponsored Kannada lessons from RCB, further promoting engagement and language acquisition.

Devdutt Padikkal, an RCB player, expressed his excitement, stating, "Growing up in Bengaluru, it's remarkable to see the language celebrated in this way. It's not just about Kannada; it's about making everyone feel at home in the city, and I'm thrilled to help fans connect more deeply with both the city and our team."

The campaign has resonated with fans, many of whom are applauding the team's creative approach to embracing and promoting local language and identity.

Kannada actor and cultural figure Shiva Rajkumar praised the initiative, saying, "This RCB campaign is very dear to me. It unites people not only to learn Kannada but also to experience the warmth of our city. It's a beautiful way to connect fans with our culture, and I’m eager to be part of it."

Rajesh Menon, COO of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, remarked, "What makes RCB truly special is the unwavering support of our fans, regardless of their background or language. This campaign is our tribute to Bengaluru, a city that welcomes everyone. By creating jilebis inspired by the elegance of the Kannada script, we invite everyone to savor the rich culture of our home city—quite literally. It’s a heartfelt gesture to surprise our fans and strengthen their connection with the team."

This innovative campaign underscores RCB's dedication to celebrating local culture and fostering stronger connections with fans, one jilebi at a time.
