Bumrah's Recent Performance
In recent matches, Bumrah showcased his skills during the first Test between India and England at Headingley, where he emerged as India's leading bowler in the first innings, claiming five wickets and marking his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
However, in the second innings, he failed to take any wickets as England successfully chased down a target of 371 runs, with Ben Duckett scoring 149 runs to secure a victory for his team. This result puts England ahead 1-0 in the five-match Test series, with the next match scheduled to start on July 2 in Birmingham.
Bumrah has been a pivotal player for India, having taken 78 wickets in 15 Tests since the start of 2024, making him the leading fast bowler globally in this period. This extensive bowling workload, totaling 410.4 overs, is the highest among fast bowlers, with only Ravindra Jadeja surpassing him among Indian players with 400.1 overs bowled.
Mohammed Siraj, who has played the same number of matches as Bumrah, has bowled significantly less, with only 355.3 overs. As Bumrah is expected to take a break soon to manage his workload, Siraj may lead the pace attack in the upcoming Test, although his recent performance in Leeds was not up to par.
