Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The Young IPL Sensation Making Waves in Cricket
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines in IPL 2025
During the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), Vaibhav Suryavanshi became a standout young talent, capturing the attention of fans even before his debut. At just 14 years old, he made history by being the youngest player to enter the IPL auction, where he was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore.
When the team's captain, Sanju Samson, faced an injury, Suryavanshi seized the chance to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. He made the most of this opportunity, amassing 252 runs in just seven matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 206.56 and an average of 36.00. Notably, he achieved his first IPL century, becoming the youngest player ever to do so and the second-fastest centurion in IPL history, surpassing Yusuf Pathan.
Suryavanshi Expands His Skills with Bowling
Following his remarkable batting debut, Suryavanshi is now venturing into bowling. Currently touring England with the India Under-19 squad, he showcased his bowling skills for the first time during a U-19 Youth ODI at the County Ground in Hove.
In a social media clip, Suryavanshi bowled the 23rd over of England's innings, delivering off-spin with precision. He allowed only two runs in that over without taking a wicket, demonstrating his focus and composure. Later in the match, he contributed significantly by scoring 48 runs off just 18 balls, leading India U19 to victory in their opening game.

Suryavanshi's ambition to become a well-rounded player capable of both batting and bowling aligns with the modern game's emphasis on all-rounders, making this a strategic move.
Interestingly, Ayush Mhatre, another rising star from the IPL 2025, is leading the India U-19 team on this tour, having started with a win. Both players are poised to become significant figures in Indian cricket in the future.
