Prasidh Krishna Highlights Importance of Game Time Ahead of England Test Series

Intra-Squad Match Experience
Beckenham, June 14: Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna expressed that the first day of the intra-squad match at Kent County Cricket Ground provided valuable game time for players ahead of the upcoming five-match Test series against England, commencing on June 20.
This practice match marks the first opportunity for the complete Indian squad to play together since their arrival in England. Prior to this, several team members, including Karun Nair, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, and KL Rahul (who played only the second match), participated in two unofficial Tests against the England Lions.
Prasidh emphasized the significance of this game time, stating, “It’s crucial for all of us to get this game time… especially since some players are coming from the ‘A’ game. Being on the field is essential, and that’s what we achieved today,” he shared with bcci.tv.
He noted the pitch conditions, saying, “It appears to be a solid pitch. Bowlers have been actively engaged, delivering impressive spells, while the batsmen demonstrated resilience. Competing against one another is always beneficial.”
After the first day’s play on Friday, he added, “We are all thrilled and enjoying the experience. It’s great to reunite after some time, reminiscing and sharing cricket stories from various teams. We aim to maintain a light atmosphere.”
The 29-year-old bowler believes that maintaining focus over extended periods is vital for success in the red-ball format, and teamwork is essential to achieve this goal.
“You need to be attentive when your opportunity arises. However, it’s challenging to stay focused for long stretches, especially when you’re on the sidelines, so it’s important to have some fun,” Prasidh explained.
“Being aware of the situation allows you to support your team at critical moments, ensuring you’re alert because anything can happen in cricket, which is the sport's charm. We are all experienced enough to know when to engage and when to relax.”
On the opening day of the intra-squad match, Captain Shubman Gill and senior wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul both scored half-centuries, while Shardul Thakur claimed wickets, as reported by BCCI on social media.
