Prabhsimran Singh Shines with Third Consecutive Half-Century in IPL

Prabhsimran Singh's Stellar Performance
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 4: Following his third consecutive half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsman Prabhsimran Singh expressed his growing confidence, emphasizing his approach of evaluating each ball on its own merit.
Continuing his impressive form, Prabhsimran achieved his best IPL season to date as PBKS posted a formidable total of 236/5 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Stadium on Sunday. He scored an explosive 91 runs off just 48 deliveries, hitting six fours and seven sixes, with a remarkable strike rate exceeding 189.
In a post-match interview, Prabhsimran remarked, “I began well, drawing confidence from my previous innings. I seized an early opportunity and made the most of it. There’s no specific strategy; I focus on playing each ball as it comes. I appreciate the management for their support. After the powerplay, I felt it was important to take my time. Once you reach 30-35 runs, it’s crucial to convert that into a significant score. It’s great that sometimes Shreyas (Iyer) steps up, other times I do, and occasionally Priyansh (Arya) contributes. We have a solid score, and now we need to bowl effectively to secure the win.”
This season, Prabhsimran has emerged as PBKS's leading run-scorer, ranking seventh overall with 437 runs across 11 matches, averaging 39.72 and boasting a strike rate above 170, including four half-centuries. His highest score remains 91.
In the match, LSG won the toss and chose to bat first. A quick-fire 30 runs from Josh Inglis off 14 balls (including one four and four sixes) and a significant 78-run partnership between Prabhsimran and captain Shreyas Iyer (who scored 45 off 25 balls with five fours and two sixes) helped propel PBKS to their total of 236/5 in 20 overs. Additionally, Prabhsimran and Shashank Singh formed a 54-run partnership, with Singh contributing 33 not out off 15 balls, including four boundaries and a six.
For LSG, Akash Maharaj Singh (2/30) and Digvesh Rathi (2/46) were the standout bowlers.
Now, PBKS aims to defend their total of 237 runs to achieve their seventh victory of the season.
