IPL 2024: Major Shake-Up in Schedule Throws Fixture Plans into Disarray for Four Teams

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has faced minor changes in the schedule of two matches. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) games have been moved from their original dates and rescheduled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), which was scheduled to be played on April 17 at the Eden Gardens, has been shifted to April 16. The match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) which was scheduled to be played on 16th April at Narendra Modi International Stadium, Ahmedabad will now be played on 17th April.

The IPL 2024 schedule underwent a slight change as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was having trouble securing security for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) game. The festival Ram is to be held during that time. The BCCI had earlier informed both KKR and RR along with state associations and broadcasters about the development. He was reportedly in talks with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and the Kolkata Police over the matter and was looking for a window to reschedule the game.

BCCI, fortunately, did not have to make major changes as they swapped the dates of the KKR vs RR game with the GT vs DC game. With both the games far away from now, it will allow all the four franchises to plan their preparations for the game accordingly. As the games last only for 1 day, it will not be a problem for the teams.

BCCI released an official statement about the IPL 2024 schedule change and said: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the rescheduling of two TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches. The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, will now be played a day earlier on April 16, 2024. The match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals was earlier scheduled to be held on April 16, 2024 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Now the match will be played on April 17, 2024.”
