India A's Challenging Start in the Second Unofficial Test

Northampton [UK], June 6: On the opening day of the second unofficial Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran struggled to make an impact as India A concluded the first session at 75/2 after 21 overs against the England Lions.

KL Rahul remained not out at 26, while Karun Nair was on 16 as they headed into lunch.

England Lions captain James Rew won the toss and chose to field at the County Ground.

Opening the innings for India A, Jaiswal and Rahul adopted a cautious approach, carefully facing the bowlers. They managed to form a partnership of 28 runs before Jaiswal was dismissed by right-arm seamer Chris Woakes.

Following Jaiswal's exit, India A's captain Abhimanyu Easwaran took to the crease.

In the 11th over, with the score at 40, Easwaran fell to Chris Woakes, contributing just 11 runs, which included two boundaries.

Karun Nair, who had scored a double century (203) in the previous match, came in next. By the end of the first session, Nair and Rahul had formed an unbeaten partnership of 35 runs.

Woakes was the standout bowler for the hosts, taking both wickets in his six-over spell, which included three maidens, while conceding only eight runs.

Brief Score: India A 75/2 in 21 overs (KL Rahul 26*, Karun Nair 16*; Chris Woakes 2/8) vs England Lions.
