Harshit Rana Joins India's Test Team in England

Leeds: Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been added to the Indian Test squad as a backup player and has traveled with the team by train to Leeds, where they will face England in the opening match of the series.

Previously, Rana was part of the India A team and participated in the first unofficial Test against the England Lions in Canterbury. Although he made his debut in Australia last year, he was not selected in the 18-member squad for the five Tests in England.

At just 23 years old and hailing from Delhi, Rana has played two Test matches, five One Day Internationals (ODIs), and one T20.

"He has been included as a cover and arrived in Leeds with the team today," a source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed.

Rana was spotted leaving the Leeds train station alongside his teammates after their journey from London. The first Test is set to commence at Headingley on June 20.

India recently engaged in an intra-squad match against India A at Beckenham, which served as their only warm-up before the series. Notably, players like K L Rahul, Karun Nair, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, Dhruv Jurel, and Nitish Reddy arrived in the UK with the A squad, gaining valuable match experience.
