Tributes Pour In for Former AIFF Vice President Atuo Mezhur
Remembering Atuo Mezhur: A Pillar of Indian Football
New Delhi [India] - The All India Football Federation (AIFF) expresses its sorrow over the passing of Atuo Mezhur, a former Vice President and Executive Committee member, who left us earlier this week.
Mezhur was a prominent figure in football administration, having held various significant roles including President and General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association, as well as President of the Nagaland Tennis Association and General Secretary of the Nagaland Olympic Association.
He notably served as the chef de mission for the India U19 national team, which clinched the Ian Rush Trophy during their tour of Northern Ireland and England in 2004, and for the U21 team’s tour of Mauritius in 1998.
In a heartfelt condolence letter addressed to Shri Neibou Sekhose, President of the Nagaland Football Association, AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey remarked, “Shri Mezhur held vital positions within the AIFF, making substantial contributions to the advancement of football across the country. His leadership as President of the NFA was instrumental in fostering grassroots initiatives and promoting youth football in Nagaland.”
Chaubey further stated, “His passing is a tremendous loss, not only for Nagaland but for the entire Indian sports community. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations. May he rest in peace.”
