Sai Sudharsan Earns Test Call-Up After Stellar IPL Performance

Sudharsan's Selection for India's Test Squad
Sai Sudharsan, the talented batter from Gujarat Titans (GT), has received a well-deserved selection in India's squad for the upcoming Test series in England, following an outstanding performance in the IPL 2025 season.
Reflections on Transitioning to Red-Ball Cricket
After GT's recent loss to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the eliminator, the 23-year-old spoke to the media about the difficulties of adapting to a different format. Sudharsan acknowledged that moving from the fast-paced T20 format to the longer red-ball game requires significant mental adjustment.
"It's all about mindset and decision-making," he stated during the post-match conference. He emphasized that after an intense three-month T20 tournament, his batting approach would need to revert to the fundamentals of red-ball cricket, which may take some time. Fortunately, he noted that there is ample time before the series begins.
Sudharsan's Aspirations to Represent India
Sudharsan, who has demonstrated remarkable maturity for his age, is on the verge of fulfilling a dream that many cricketers aspire to: representing India in Test matches. He expressed, "Playing for the country is a dream for everyone. I would love to do that."
He also acknowledged the need for improvement in his T20 game, stating, "There are many aspects where I can enhance my skills, and I am focusing on that. When the opportunity arises, I will give my best for the country."
A Stellar IPL Season Ends in Disappointment
Sudharsan's performance in the IPL season was remarkable, as he scored 759 runs in 15 matches with an impressive average of 54.21. His campaign featured six half-centuries and a spectacular century, establishing him as one of the tournament's top players.
Unfortunately, his IPL journey concluded in disappointment when GT was eliminated by the Mumbai Indians, losing by 20 runs.
