Tensions Rise in Dhubri Following Disturbing Discovery

In Dhubri town, Assam, communal unrest and protests erupted on Sunday after the discovery of animal remains, believed to be a cow's head, near a Hindu temple. This incident was reported by local media.

The remains were found by a visitor to the Hanuman temple in ward number 3 around 7:30 AM, triggering immediate protests by 9 AM.

As noted by local news sources, this marks the third occurrence of such an incident at this particular temple.

A significant number of local residents blocked a nearby road, chanting slogans and setting tires ablaze as part of their protest. They insisted that the police should not remove the remains until those responsible were apprehended.

Despite a heavy police presence, tensions continued to escalate. By 11 AM, Dhubri's Deputy Commissioner Dibakar Nath and Superintendent of Police Nabin Singh arrived to address the crowd, assuring them of a thorough investigation.

In response to the unrest, the deputy commissioner issued a directive on Monday prohibiting gatherings of five or more individuals in Dhubri under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Additionally, all rallies, processions, meetings, and demonstrations have been banned.
