Air India Flight Delayed in Vienna Due to Technical Issues

Flight Disruption for Air India
In a recent incident, an Air India flight traveling from Delhi to Washington D.C. was halted in Vienna after a routine check uncovered a technical problem post-refueling on Wednesday. The airline opted to postpone the flight to conduct further maintenance to rectify the issue. According to Flightradar24 data, flight AI103 had taken off from Delhi on July 2 and made a scheduled stop in Vienna, which is standard for Air India's long-haul operations. Although the flight was set to continue to Washington on the same day, it ultimately did not depart.
The technical issues needed resolution before the flight could proceed to Washington, D.C. Consequently, the flight was delayed, requiring additional time for maintenance. An Air India spokesperson confirmed, “Due to this, the Vienna to Washington, DC leg was cancelled, and passengers were disembarked.”
This delay also impacted the return flight, AI104, from Washington D.C. to Delhi (via Vienna), which was subsequently cancelled. Air India stated that passengers affected by this cancellation were offered alternative flight arrangements or full refunds based on their preferences.
This incident raises further concerns regarding Air India's operational reliability, both domestically and internationally. Earlier in June, a tragic crash involving Air India in Ahmedabad had already raised alarms across the nation.
Investigation into Air India Crash
A recent simulation of flight AI 171, which tragically crashed last month, has indicated that flight conditions alone were not responsible for the accident. Instead, the investigation has pointed towards a potential dual engine failure. Air India pilots conducted a test flight as part of the inquiry, aiming to replicate the circumstances of AI 171.
According to a report, the final flight conditions, including the landing gear being deployed and wing flaps retracted, were not the sole causes of the crash. Investigators now suspect that simultaneous engine failures may have been the underlying issue. This shift in focus suggests that technical failure could be a significant factor contributing to the incident.
The Air India aircraft, bound for London, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport on June 12, resulting in the loss of all 242 individuals on board. Investigators and the airline are currently examining the possibility of dual engine failure as a critical factor that hindered the Boeing 787 jet from maintaining flight.
