Significance of the G7 Summit

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the forthcoming G7 summit in Canada will serve as a vital platform for discussing significant global issues and the priorities of the Global South. He is set to embark on a trip to three countries. In his departure statement prior to this journey, Modi expressed eagerness to engage in discussions with leaders from partner nations during the summit in Kananaskis. His participation is at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.


Strengthening Global Cooperation

Modi noted that this trip would also allow him to thank partner countries for their ongoing support in the fight against cross-border terrorism and to enhance global consensus on addressing all forms and manifestations of terrorism. He mentioned that he will visit Cyprus on June 15-16 at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides. He stated, "Cyprus is a close friend and significant partner in the Mediterranean region and the European Union. This visit will strengthen our historical ties and provide an opportunity to enhance our relations in trade, investment, security, and technology, as well as promote exchanges between our peoples."


Visit to Croatia

Following the G7 summit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Croatia, where he will meet with President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. He highlighted that this visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia and will open new avenues for bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
