Odisha Police's STF Foils Wildlife Smuggling Attempt, Seizes Elephant Tusks

Significant Wildlife Smuggling Bust in Boudh
Boudh: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police has successfully intercepted a wildlife smuggling operation, confiscating two elephant tusks valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh. One individual has been detained in connection with this illegal activity, according to an official report.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Pramod Parida, who resides in Charada village within the Boudh district.
Parida was apprehended along with the tusks near Telibandha Chhak in the Boudh police jurisdiction around 7 PM on Sunday, as detailed in the statement.
The STF, in collaboration with local forest range officers, executed a raid along the Boudh-Sonepur Road (NH-57) close to Telibandha Chhak, leading to Parida's arrest and the seizure of the ivory.
The confiscated tusks have been transferred to the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) in Boudh, along with the detainee, for further proceedings under the Wildlife Protection Act. Ongoing investigations are being conducted.
