Starc's Decision Impacts Delhi Capitals

In Melbourne, it has been reported that Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc will not be returning to India for the remainder of the IPL season, which poses a significant challenge for the Delhi Capitals as they aim for a playoff spot.

As per sources, Starc informed the franchise of his decision just a week after participating in a match in Dharamsala that was halted due to security concerns following air raid alerts in the vicinity.

The league was subsequently suspended due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the tournament would resume on May 17 after receiving the necessary government clearances following a ceasefire.

Starc has been a crucial player for the Delhi Capitals, leading the team with 14 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 26.14. His absence will undoubtedly impact the team's performance as they strive to secure a playoff position.

Alyssa Healy, the captain of the Australian women's cricket team and Starc's wife, recently recounted the chaotic night when the IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly called off in Dharamsala.

Healy shared her experience on the 'WillowTalk' podcast, describing how the lights went out and rumors circulated about the need to evacuate the stadium. She recalled the moment when a team official urgently instructed them to leave, highlighting the panic of the situation.

Initially, the game was suspended due to floodlight failure, and Healy was present in the stands with family members of other players.

There is still no confirmation regarding Faf du Plessis's return to the Delhi Capitals, while Tristan Stubbs has announced he will rejoin the team for the remainder of the league phase before departing for the World Test Championship final.

The Delhi Capitals have signed Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who will not be returning to India. However, there are uncertainties about Rahman's participation, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not yet been approached for a no-objection certificate.
