Identification of Victims from Ahmedabad Plane Crash Completed via DNA Testing

DNA Testing Confirms Identities of Plane Crash Victims
The identities of 31 individuals who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash near Ahmedabad have been confirmed through DNA testing. As of now, 12 families have come forward to claim the remains, according to an official report released on Sunday.
Dr. Rajneesh Patel, the additional civil superintendent, informed reporters that the DNA matching process for former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is still ongoing. He noted that the identified bodies are linked to various locations in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Due to the severe damage to the bodies, which makes identification challenging, officials are relying on DNA tests to ascertain the identities of the victims from this horrific incident. Professor Patel from the government B.J. Medical College stated, 'So far, 31 DNA samples have matched, and 12 bodies have been handed over to their families. These individuals hail from Udaipur, Vadodara, Kheda, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, and Botad districts.'
Authorities had previously announced the formation of 230 teams to coordinate with the affected families. The ill-fated flight, which was en route to London, had 242 individuals on board, including passengers and crew members, with 241 confirmed fatalities. Among the deceased was former Chief Minister Rupani, while one passenger miraculously survived.
