Rohit Sharma Appointed Ambassador for 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma Takes on New Role as Tournament Ambassador
On Tuesday, Rohit Sharma, who led India to victory in the last T20 World Cup held in 2024, was officially announced as the tournament ambassador for the upcoming 2026 edition, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka.
In his T20 International career, Rohit amassed an impressive total of 4,231 runs, boasting an average of 32.01 and a remarkable strike rate of 140.89.
The announcement was made by ICC chairman Jay Sharma during the schedule reveal for the tournament.
Following India's victory in the Americas last year, which ended an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy, Rohit decided to retire from the T20 format.
Sharma also revealed that the tournament will feature matches across eight venues—five in India and three in Sri Lanka—scheduled for February to March next year.
The matches are set to occur from February 7 to March 8, with venues including Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Colombo, and Kandy.
