Rising COVID-19 Cases in India
COVID-19 is making a resurgence in India, with the latest data from the central health ministry indicating that active cases have surpassed 2,500 nationwide. Notably, over 200 of these cases have been reported in Delhi, where the rise in active infections is contributing to the overall increase in COVID-19 patients across the country.
Tragically, Delhi has confirmed its first death linked to the new variant of the virus. A 60-year-old woman succumbed to the illness after experiencing severe vomiting and abdominal pain, which led to her hospitalization. Upon testing, she was found to be COVID-19 positive and had been suffering from intestinal issues.
Current COVID-19 Statistics in India
As of May 30, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached 2,710, according to the central health ministry. Kerala has reported the highest number of cases, totaling 1,147, followed by Maharashtra with 424 cases. In Delhi, the active case count has risen to 223, including the recent fatality linked to the new variant. On Friday, Maharashtra recorded 84 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total for the year to 681. Rajasthan is also witnessing an uptick in COVID-19 infections.
