Bomb Threats Prompt Security Response at Two Delhi Schools

Bomb Threats Received by Schools in Delhi

On Monday morning, two schools in Delhi, namely the Navy School located in Chanakyapuri and the CRPF School in Dwarka, received bomb threat emails. Following the threats, a large-scale search operation was initiated. Bomb disposal units and police teams were promptly deployed to both locations. According to reports, no suspicious items have been found, and investigations are ongoing.

Immediate Action Taken by Authorities

As reported by a news agency, the bomb threats were communicated via email to the two schools. Immediate action was taken at both locations—one in Chanakyapuri and the other in Dwarka. The Delhi Police stated that nothing suspicious has been discovered during the searches conducted.

Standard Operating Procedures for School Safety

In May, the Directorate of Education (DOE) issued a 115-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address bomb threats in schools, following directives from the Delhi High Court and in coordination with national and local agencies. This SOP applies to government, aided, minority, and recognized unaided private schools. Schools are required to conduct regular mock drills, establish surveillance, and enforce strict entry controls.

Emergency Response Management

School leaders are expected to manage emergency responses in coordination with police and disaster services, while teachers and students must adhere to safety protocols. The SOP emphasizes that "every threat should be taken seriously," urging authorities to alert them immediately without causing panic.

Previous Incidents of Bomb Threats

Earlier this year, two schools in the Delhi-NCR region and St. Stephen's College also received bomb threats via email. The Shiv Nadar School in Noida and Alcon School in Delhi were among those targeted, leading to the administration sending students home. However, the bomb threat at the Alcon International School in Delhi turned out to be a false alarm.

Investigation Continues

A police officer mentioned that the information was shared with the control room and senior police officials. Subsequently, bomb disposal personnel, along with dog handlers, inspected the school premises but found nothing unusual. This incident follows similar threats received by several private schools in Noida. During the investigation, it was revealed that a ninth-grade student had made the bomb threat as an excuse to avoid attending school.
