Pradosh is the first part of the night and traditionally fasting is done during dusk or twilight. On this day devotees worship Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati to get rid of past sins and attain moksha. Observed twice every month, Pradosh Vrat is known by different names depending on the day of the week on which it falls. The first Pradosh Vrat of March is falling on Friday and hence it is known as Shukra Pradosh Vrat.

This time Shukra Pradosh Vrat is being observed on March 8, Friday. It will fall on the same day as Mahashivratri, the most important of all the 12 monthly Shivratri observed every month. Observance of this Vrata removes obstacles, achieves success and brings happiness and prosperity.
Significance of Shukra Pradosh Vrat
On Shukra Pradosh Vrat, Lord Shiva is worshiped along with Lord Shukra to seek blessings from both. Pradosh fast on Friday can help in removing financial constraints and getting rid of all kinds of ailments. It is also useful for those who are facing problems or obstacles in their marital life. A one-day fast can be observed from sunrise to sunset and ends after evening worship, or a 24-hour fast can be observed to wrap up the next morning.
Shukra Pradosh Vrat Vidhi
During the Pradosh Vrat, a sattvic food diet is followed by avoiding grains, pulses, salt, onions and garlic. You can eat fruit salad, kuttu puri, sweet potato, fruit lassi, milk and milk products.
Rituals You Should Follow During Pradosh Vrat
Get up early in the morning and take bath. Abhishek Shivalinga with milk and honey during Pradosh period to get rid of financial debts and troubles. Offer ghee, sugar and barley flour to Lord Shiva and light eight lamps in all four directions. It also ensures the grace of Goddess Lakshmi. Perform Shiva Puja and chant Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra 108 times. Light a ghee lamp.
Since Pradosh Vrat is about evening rituals, the chanting of mantras and prayers in the evening is important.
