Observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is recognized every year on June 26, aiming to highlight the negative impacts of drug use on society. In honor of this day, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE) of the Government of India is hosting an event at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Union Minister Shri B.L. Verma will serve as the Chief Guest, joined by senior officials.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: A Nationwide Initiative
To combat the challenges posed by drug abuse, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) has launched the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) across all districts. From June 1 to June 26, various programs have been executed nationwide, involving states, union territories, and numerous NGOs and volunteer organizations.

- Over 15.78 crore individuals have been educated about substance use, including more than 5 crore youth and 3 crore women.
- Participation from over 4 lakh educational institutions to disseminate the campaign's message.
- A dedicated team of more than 20,000 Master Volunteers has been trained and mobilized.
- Awareness campaigns are being conducted through social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- The NMBA Mobile Application gathers real-time data from districts and master volunteers, available for download on the Google Play Store.
- The official NMBA website provides comprehensive information about the initiative.
- More than 1 crore students from 99,595 educational institutions have pledged to remain drug-free.
- Events such as 'Nashe se Azaadi', 'Naya Bharat, Nasha Mukt Bharat', and 'NMBA Interaction with NCC' are organized to engage with youth and children.
