This year's theme, 'Collective Efforts to Eliminate Plastic Pollution,' aims to raise awareness and encourage public participation.

Dr. (Mrs.) Janak Palta Magilligan explained that the United Nations Environment Programme's theme seeks to inspire global solidarity in combating plastic pollution. It calls upon individuals, organizations, and governments to reduce plastic usage, promote reuse, and adopt sustainable practices.

The event will kick off on May 30 at the Jimmy Magilligan Center for Sustainable Development in Sanawadiya. Notable guests, including Dr. Janak Palta Magilligan, Padma Shri Bhalu Mondhe, Padma Shri Sushil Doshi, Indore Postmaster General Preeti Agarwal, social worker Mr. Virender Goyal, cardiologist Dr. Bharat Rawat, and environmentalist Ajay Kumar (an alumnus of IIT Delhi), will be in attendance.

The week-long program will feature lectures, seminars, group discussions, and cultural presentations. Dialogues at the Jimmy Magilligan Center, IATV Educational Academy, Malwanchal University, and the Solar Food Processing Unit will focus on practical solutions and strategies to tackle plastic pollution.

Special sessions will also address climate change, clean water, and air quality. The week will conclude on June 5 with the main World Environment Day ceremony at the Jimmy Magilligan Center, where Dr. Janak Palta Magilligan will summarize the week's activities and outline future plans. This initiative invites participation from all age groups and communities, encouraging residents from both urban and rural areas, social activists, educational institutions, and governmental and non-governmental organizations to share their ideas, suggestions, and experiences towards a plastic-free and greener future.
