Harshal Patel Sets IPL Record: Fastest Bowler to 150 Wickets!

Historic Achievement for Harshal Patel
In a thrilling match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Harshal Patel made history by becoming the fastest bowler in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to achieve 150 wickets based on balls bowled.
Patel reached this milestone by taking the wicket of Aiden Markram in the 16th over with a perfectly executed slower yorker that left the batsman bewildered as it hit the stumps.
This significant wicket was recorded on the 2381st delivery of his IPL career, breaking the previous record held by the legendary Lasith Malinga, who had taken 2444 balls to reach the same mark.
The updated leaderboard for the fastest bowlers to 150 IPL wickets now includes: Harshal Patel (2381), Lasith Malinga (2444), Yuzvendra Chahal (2543), Dwayne Bravo (2656), and Jasprit Bumrah (2832). Additionally, Patel is now the second-fastest in terms of matches played, achieving this in 117 games, just behind Malinga's 105 matches.
However, it wasn't a perfect night for Patel or the SunRisers Hyderabad team. He finished with bowling figures of 1 for 49 in four overs as the Lucknow Super Giants set a formidable target of 205 runs for 7 wickets.
The SRH bowlers faced challenges throughout the match, struggling against the explosive batting trio of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran, who have been pivotal for their team this season.
Both Marsh and Markram scored impressive half-centuries, surpassing the 60-run mark, while Pooran contributed a rapid 45 runs. This performance led to a remarkable achievement, making them the first overseas trio in IPL history to each score over 400 runs in a single season for the same franchise.
