Bowling first, Cummins & Co bowled out the hosts for a modest total of 240 runs in 50 overs. KL Rahul top scored for his team with 66 runs off 107 balls while Virat Kohli scored 54 runs off 63 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma also played a crucial innings of 47 runs to get India off to a good start before the runs dried up when he was dismissed. Mitchell Starc was the most successful bowler for Australia, taking 3 wickets while Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Australia got off to a poor start. Jasprit Bumrah sent back Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith before Mohammed Shami dismissed David Warner in the second over to get the team out from down under at 47 for 3.
But from there, it was one-way traffic as Travis Head and Marnus Lebusch combined for a huge match-winning partnership. The pair put on 192 runs for the fourth wicket before Mohammad Siraj dismissed Head when Australia were just 2 runs away from victory. Head departed with 137 off 120 balls while Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 off 110 balls.
