BCCI Staff to Receive Long-Awaited Daily Allowances Following Policy Update

BCCI Staff Allowances Finally Released
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the daily allowances for its staff, which have been pending since January, will soon be disbursed. This decision comes after the board's leadership streamlined the domestic tournament allowance policy.
Under the current travel guidelines, employees receive a per diem of ₹15,000 for short trips (lasting up to four days) and ₹10,000 for longer journeys, typically associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL), Women’s Premier League (WPL), and ICC events held in India. Additionally, a one-time incidental allowance of ₹7,500 is provided during travel.
The updated policy eliminates the incidental allowance, establishing a flat rate of ₹10,000 per day for staff while traveling. The IPL season spans just over two months, while ICC events generally last at least a month.
A source from the BCCI indicated that after tax deductions, the daily allowance will amount to ₹6,500.
Due to the impending policy changes, staff members from finance, operations, and media departments have not received their daily allowances for the IPL and WPL. However, with the new policy now in place, these outstanding payments are expected to be settled shortly.
The source emphasized the necessity for a clear policy regarding allowances, noting that some employees were claiming allowances even while working from the Mumbai headquarters during tournaments. With the new guidelines established, the dues will be addressed promptly.
To illustrate, an employee traveling throughout the entire 70-day IPL would qualify for a daily allowance of ₹10,000, totaling ₹7 lakh. Conversely, those with limited travel during the IPL can claim only 60% of the 70-day allowance, while employees not traveling at all can claim 40% of the accrued amount.
For international travel, most BCCI employees receive USD 300 per day. In contrast, honorary office-bearers, including the president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and joint secretary, are entitled to a daily allowance of USD 1,000 during foreign tours. They also receive ₹40,000 for a one-day meeting within India and ₹30,000 per day for multi-day domestic work trips.
