Empowering Future Cricketers

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], April 16: The Delhi Capitals franchise has taken a significant step in promoting grassroots cricket by organizing a masterclass for aspiring young cricketers at the Conscient Sports Arena in Gurgaon. This event is part of their global initiative, Beyond Boundaries.

Participants in the masterclass, which included both girls and boys from the Delhi Capitals' grassroots academies, benefited from this initiative aimed at nurturing young talent.

Notable Delhi Capitals players such as KL Rahul, Abhishek Porel, and Vipraj Nigam were present, along with Cricket Director Venugopal Rao, head coach Hemang Badani, and bowling coach Munaf Patel, to share their expertise.

The session provided valuable insights into enhancing technical skills, building physical strength, and fostering mental discipline, allowing young players to learn directly from cricketing legends and experienced coaches, as highlighted in a press release from Delhi Capitals.

Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, expressed, "This masterclass exemplifies our commitment, alongside DP World, to empower the next generation of cricketers by providing access to essential equipment, facilities, and inspiration from their idols. Witnessing the eagerness of these young cricketers to learn was truly rewarding."

The young athletes were equipped with professional gear they received in 2024, when DP World donated 500 kits to grassroots academies and introduced two repurposed shipping containers at Aerocity Ground in Delhi. These containers, adorned with unique artwork, now function as changing rooms and pavilions for the players.

Since its inception during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, DP World has committed to donating ten cricket kits for every 100 runs scored in ICC tournaments, totaling 4,470 kits so far. Of these, 2,750 kits have been distributed globally, including 1,250 in India, with five repurposed containers set up in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
