Heavy Rain and Storms Expected in West Bengal Until May 22

Weather Forecast for West Bengal
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in several districts of West Bengal until May 22.
According to the weather agency, the increased rainfall is attributed to a west-east trough (a low-pressure area) extending from Punjab to northern Bangladesh, favorable wind patterns, and moisture influx from the Bay of Bengal.
The IMD indicated that heavy rainfall is likely on various days in districts such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Malda, and North Dinajpur in northern Bengal until May 22.
Additionally, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in several southern Bengal districts, including Purulia, West Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Murshidabad, Nadia, and West Bardhaman.
As of 8:30 AM on Monday, the IMD reported heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two locations in North Dinajpur district over the past 24 hours. The district headquarters in Raiganj recorded 187 mm of rain, while Canning in South Bengal saw 53 mm during the same period.
