Global PC Shipments Surge in Q2 2025

Significant Growth in PC Shipments
New Delhi, July 15: In the second quarter of 2025, global shipments of personal computers exceeded 63 million units, marking an increase of over 4% compared to the previous year, according to a recent report.
During the March to June period, manufacturers delivered a total of 63.225 million units, reflecting a 4.4% rise from 60.541 million units in the same quarter last year, as per preliminary findings from Gartner.
Rishi Padhi, Research Principal at Gartner, noted, "In Q2 2025, demand from enterprises surpassed that of consumers, driven by migrations to Windows 11 and desktop renewals from the pandemic, while consumer purchases slowed as buyers postponed their decisions."
Lenovo maintained its position as the leading vendor in global shipments, capturing a market share of 26.9%, followed by HP Inc at 22.3%, Dell at 15.6%, and Apple at 9%.
The report highlighted that there were no significant shifts in the rankings of the top five vendors during this quarter; however, Lenovo experienced a notable growth of 13.9% year-on-year in its global PC shipments.
All major manufacturers, except Dell, reported shipment increases ranging from 3% to 13%. Dell's shipments declined by 3%, totaling 9.832 million units compared to 10.140 million units in Q2 2024.
In terms of units shipped, Lenovo delivered 17.038 million, while HP shipped 14.124 million. Dell's figures stood at 9.832 million, and Apple reported 5.699 million units.
Looking ahead, PC shipments are projected to grow by over 2% in 2025, driven by factors such as increased inventory levels and the ongoing transition to Windows 11.
Padhi stated, "PC shipments are anticipated to rise by 2.4% in 2025, fueled by a tariff-induced inventory surge in the U.S. during the first half of the year and the continuing Windows 11 replacement cycles globally."
However, in the latter half of 2025, growth in shipments is expected to stabilize as vendors reduce stock in response to demand, which may lead to excess inventory by the end of the year.
