Significant Changes in IAS Positions


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced new appointments for over 13 IAS officers, with Rajesh Prabhakar Patil transitioning from his role as BMC Commissioner to become the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Co-operation department.


A notification from the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) department confirmed that Patil will also retain his additional responsibilities as Special Secretary for Housing & Urban Development and Chairman of the Odisha State Warehousing Corporation.


Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya will continue his role as Director of Odia Language, Literature & Culture while also serving as Secretary of the same department. Additionally, Samarth Verma has been appointed as the Director of Minor Minerals in Bhubaneswar, taking on extra duties as Managing Director of the Odisha Film Development Corporation.


The position of Director of Minor Minerals has been upgraded to the level of Additional Secretary, as stated in the notification. Deepankar Mohapatra has been designated as the CEO of the Hockey Promotion Council in Odisha, a role now equivalent to Joint Secretary. Furthermore, new Sub-Collectors have been appointed across nine districts, following a previous reshuffle involving 49 senior officials.
