Rescue Operation Underway for Stranded Tourists at Chhattisgarh Waterfall

Emergency Response at Devpahari Waterfall
Raipur, July 8: Five individuals enjoying a picnic at the scenic Devpahari waterfall in Chhattisgarh found themselves in peril as they became trapped by the river's strong currents after a sudden increase in water levels.
Initial reports indicate that the group, consisting of two boys and three girls, is stranded in the middle of the river, unable to navigate back to safety due to the powerful flow.
In response to the emergency, local police from Lemru quickly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation.
A specialized rescue team has also been deployed to aid in the evacuation of the stranded tourists.
Devpahari, known for its breathtaking views, poses significant risks during the monsoon season when rivers can swell rapidly due to persistent rainfall.
Officials have emphasized the need for caution when visiting such locations during this period.
It is important to note that public access to all waterfall and river areas is officially restricted from June 15 to October 15 due to the increased danger of flooding and sudden water surges.
Notices and advisories regarding these restrictions are regularly posted at tourist sites and disseminated through various media channels.
Authorities remind the public that warnings are issued annually, urging people to avoid waterfalls and rivers during the rainy season, as water levels can rise unpredictably, creating hazardous conditions for visitors.
The district administration has reiterated its appeal to both tourists and locals to adhere to safety guidelines, refrain from entering deep waters during rainfall, and respect seasonal restrictions to avert life-threatening situations.
Rescue efforts for the trapped individuals are ongoing, with further updates anticipated as the situation develops.
