Starc Achieves Historic Milestone

In a remarkable achievement, Mitchell Starc, the Australian fast bowler, has been recognized as the highest wicket-taker among left-arm pacers in Test cricket history. This milestone was reached during the second session of the first day of the pink-ball Test against England at the Gabba in Brisbane.


Starc showcased his exceptional skills by claiming three wickets on Day 1, dismissing Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope. His performance not only helped Australia but also propelled him past the legendary Wasim Akram in the all-time rankings.


With this latest performance, Starc has accumulated a total of 417 Test wickets from 102 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 26.53. His record includes 18 five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls, while Akram concluded his career with 414 wickets from 104 matches at an average of 23.62.

On the batting front, Joe Root made headlines by scoring his first Test century on Australian soil, marking his 40th overall in Test matches. His innings helped England surpass the 250-run mark in their first innings.
