Raids by Maharashtra ATS in Thane

On Monday, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) executed searches in Thane district related to a terrorism case, targeting the residence of a former official from the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), among other locations. Officials provided this information.


An ATS team, in collaboration with the Thane rural police, initiated the search operation early in the morning in the village of Padgha. However, they did not disclose further details.


Included in the locations raided was the home of Sakib Nachan, a former official of the banned organization SIMI.


An official stated, 'We have identified several individuals, and the search operation is ongoing.' They added, 'We are trying to determine if there are any irregularities in Padgha.'


Earlier in 2023, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had conducted searches in Padgha as part of a nationwide crackdown on the terrorist organization ISIS, resulting in the arrest of Nachan and others.
