Legal Action Against AAP Leader

Authorities have initiated a First Information Report (FIR) against Meharaj Malik, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party's Jammu and Kashmir unit, following allegations of defamation, criminal threats, and disrespect towards a female doctor in Doda district. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from an associate professor at a medical college, who claimed that the legislator used social media to publicly threaten her and make derogatory, sexual, and insulting remarks.

The doctor lodged her complaint at the Doda police station, accusing Malik of issuing criminal threats, engaging in sexual harassment, and intimidating hospital security. In her statement, she expressed that Malik's actions included using social media to publicly threaten her and make offensive comments, with phrases like 'I will drag you' and 'I will strip you' being used in a malicious manner.

The complaint emphasized that these words are not mere insults; they pose a direct threat to her dignity, safety, and professional integrity as a female doctor serving in a government hospital. The language used clearly disrespects the dignity of a female public servant, especially on social media. The complainant urged the police to take note of Malik's repeated use of derogatory terms against her in his live social media videos. She added, 'What is even more distressing is his taunt - 'This hospital is not your father's' - which not only reflects arrogance but also extreme insensitivity, considering my father passed away over 12 years ago.'
