Delhi Police Detains Seven Bangladeshi Nationals
Delhi News Update (Media House), New Delhi. In the capital city of Delhi and its surrounding areas, efforts are underway to identify individuals residing illegally. On Monday, as part of this initiative, the Delhi police conducted a significant operation, apprehending several individuals who were Bangladeshi nationals living without proper documentation. This operation was executed by the special staff of the Eastern District police, resulting in the arrest of seven Bangladeshi citizens.
Crossing the Border
During initial questioning, the detained individuals disclosed how they entered India and made their way to Delhi. They revealed that they swam across a river near the India-Bangladesh border to gain entry. Once in India, they dispersed in different directions, believing this would help them avoid detection. The police are currently interrogating the suspects to further investigate the matter.
Police Officials' Statements
Abhishek Dhania, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Eastern District, stated that his team is focused on identifying foreign nationals living illegally in India and facilitating their return to their home countries. Following an investigation, the team discovered that several Bangladeshi nationals were residing in India.
After receiving this information, a team was formed under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Nithya Radha Krishna. After considerable effort, on March 16, the team apprehended an individual named Dilawar Khan. During questioning, he initially claimed to be a citizen of West Bengal. However, after rigorous interrogation, he admitted to being a Bangladeshi national. Subsequently, based on his information, six other individuals were located in the Delhi-NCR region.
Locations of Arrests
Following the tip-off, the police first apprehended one suspect in Krishna Nagar. Subsequently, based on his information, additional arrests were made in areas including Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Seemapuri, as well as Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad. The arrested individuals have been identified as Dilawar Khan, Beauty Begum, Rafiqul, Touhid, Mohammad Azhar, Zakir Malik, and a 15-year-old minor. The police have informed the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) about their arrests. Currently, they have been sent to a detention center, and the process to repatriate them to their home country will commence shortly.
