BYD Unveils Supercharging Technology: Drive 400KM with Just 5 Minutes of Charge
Introduction to BYD's Supercharging
(BYD Supercharging) The Chinese automotive company BYD has recently launched the impressive BE 6 model in collaboration with Mahindra, and now they have showcased their innovative Super E-platform charging technology. The company claims that with just a 5-minute charge, drivers can cover a distance of up to 400KM. Let's explore more about this groundbreaking technology.
Electric Vehicle Insights
When discussing electric vehicles, the first considerations often include battery size, range, and charging time. BYD, a well-known electric vehicle manufacturer in China, has addressed the charging dilemma with its new Super E-Platform technology. Let's delve into the unique features of this platform.
Super E-Platform: Quick Charging for Long Distances
As previously mentioned, the standout feature of this platform is its ability to charge the battery in just 5 minutes, allowing for a travel range of 400KM. This innovation is significant for the electric vehicle sector and could greatly benefit its future.
Live Stream Announcement
On March 17, the company's founder, Wang Chuanfu, provided insights about this advanced platform during a live-streamed event. The platform has been named the Super E-Platform. Notably, Tesla also shared information about its Supercharger network last year.
Charging Speed Comparison
BYD's modern charger operates at a speed of 1,000 volts, with a charging capacity of 1,000 kilowatts. In comparison, Tesla's Supercharger requires 15 minutes to charge for a range of 275KM, making BYD's charger significantly faster. However, it's important to note that to enhance battery life, fast charging is typically recommended only up to 80%, after which the speed may decrease, indicating that a full charge in 6 minutes may not be feasible.
Integration in BYD Models
BYD plans to incorporate this technology into its Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. The pricing for these models is approximately 270,000 yuan (around 30 lakh INR) for the Han L and 280,000 yuan (about 33.5 lakh INR) for the Tang L. Additionally, these vehicles come equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
