Major Meeting to Boost Odia Film Industry
Bhubaneswar: A significant meeting aimed at rejuvenating the Odia film industry took place on Monday at Sanskruti Bhawan, organized by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture department.
The session, led by actor and MLA Sidhant Mohapatra, gathered a diverse group of stakeholders including actors, directors, producers, musicians, and writers to develop a strategic plan for the industry's advancement.
Discussions focused on the regularization of the Odisha State Film Awards, enhancing cash prizes, and incorporating younger members into jury panels.
The meeting underscored the importance of creating a detailed film policy, offering government subsidies, upgrading Kalinga Studio, and reforming the Odisha Film Development Corporation Ltd.
Suggestions were made to expand the number of cinema halls, reduce ticket prices, and establish an OTT platform dedicated to Odia content.
Additionally, the necessity for a film archive and a specialized website to showcase award-winning films and artists was emphasized.
Prominent figures in attendance included actors Arindam Roy, Sritam Das, Sabyasachi Mishra, Archita Sahu, and musician Debasish Mahapatra, along with senior government officials such as department director Bijaya Ketan Upadhyaya, special secretary Deba Prasad Dash, deputy director Devjani Bhuyan, and Odisha Sahitya Akademi secretary Chandrasekhar Hota.
