Virat Kohli Sets New IPL Record with 600 Runs in Five Seasons

Kohli's Historic Achievement in IPL
Virat Kohli has solidified his status as one of the all-time greats in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the first player to surpass 600 runs in five separate seasons. The 36-year-old accomplished this feat during the ongoing 2025 season, where he has already scored 602 runs, with at least one match remaining in the league.
Kohli's journey began in 2013 when he scored 634 runs, followed by an astonishing 973 runs in 2016, which remains the highest single-season total in IPL history. He continued his impressive form with 639 runs in 2023 and 741 runs in 2024, adding another 600-plus season this year. No other player has demonstrated such consistent excellence throughout the tournament's history.

The IPL is currently the only T20 format in which Virat Kohli is participating. Following India's T20 World Cup victory in 2024, he announced his retirement from the format. However, he continues to shine in the IPL, recently scoring his eighth half-century of the season against LSG, where he was dismissed by Avesh Khan after scoring 54 runs. Notably, this was the third time Avesh Khan has dismissed Kohli in their eight encounters.
